Miss Venezuela is the new Miss World


Amid much fanfare at the Earls Court Two in London, Miss Venezuela, Ivian Sarcos, was crowned the 61st Miss World with Miss  Philippines, Gwendoline Ruais as the 1st runner up and Miss  Puerto Rico, Amanda Perez, the 2nd runner up.  Miss Venezuela looked gorgeous in a large pink feathery gown open in the front as she was being crowned by reigning Miss World, Alexandria Mills of USA.
Narrowed down from top 15, the top 7 comprised Korea, Venezuela, England, Philippines, Puerto Rico, South  Africa and Scotland. The 15 semi finalists included Indonesia, Korea, Italy,  Sweden,  Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan,  Ukraine, Venezuela, Philippines, US VI, Spain, Puerto Rico, South Africa,  Scotland and England.
The evening took off with a grand performance by Diversity, touted as Britain’s most talented street dancing group, in between which the girls from 150 countries were introduced which included India’s  Kanishtha Dhankhar.
As anchors  Jason Cook, and  Angela Chow – the 9th time host of Miss World, took to the stage and introduced the jury which comprised ex title holders among others, the audience broke into a thunderous applause.
Dominican Republic was awarded  Miss World 2011Sports Champ. Miss England was Miss World 2011 Beach Beauty,  Kazakhstan was Miss World 2011 Top Model, while Miss World 2011 Talent title went to Miss Chile, and Miss Ghana and Miss  Indonesia jointly shared the title of Beauty with a Purpose.
In keeping with the tradition, the Miss World flag was passed on to the next host country, which is the City of Ordos in  Mongolia, China.
